The story of agriculture in the UAE is one of wonder. Three quarters desert, low rainfall, high temperatures, poor soil, and lack of natural waterways, complete the most hostile of pictures.
And yet, thanks to a clear vision, smart decision-making, and a wide open mind to advanced agri-tech, in the space of a few decades alone, the UAE made giant strides on the road to nurturing a transformative agriculture sector, designed to achieving locally sustainable food sourcing, and making it a strategic contributor to the overall national economy.
Silal Fresh is the most recent chapter in this wondrous story. The brainchild of Silal, the region’s leading agri-food company fostering local farming and produce, Silal Fresh saw the light to a bold promise: Farm-to-shelf within 24 hours of harvesting.
Farmer Focused
Farming is not a job, it’s an act of love. Love of the land and ancestral traditions. Farming in an environment where every drop of water and, every inch of fertile ground are as precious as gold, is love against all odds.
So for us, at Silal Fresh, fostering exclusive and purposeful relationships with over 900 local farmers is no less than a privilege and an honour.
We walk with them from the very first steps of their journey through collaborative mentorship programmes.
We put at their disposal the latest in agri-tech innovation, to maintain and uplift their product quality, diversity, and yield. Ensuring their livelihoods are at bay from market volatility.
We also make sure their labour of love is collected across our 12 collection centres in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions. Once there, our local produce is tirelessly checked and carefully packed at our 3 packhouses, before being delivered to retail shelves across the UAE. And all of this is done, within 24 hours of harvesting!
Behind this promise is an earthly bond we forged with the people of the land.
